Cerne Abbas Brewery has been around for nearly 9 years now. In this time we have evolved into what we are today. We have survived 2 moves, a history making courtcase, covid, a cancer diagnosis and Brexit. We chucked that last one in there as it’s a standard blame for most things not going our way.
The unstableness of our trade is legendary and our seasonal highs and lows are enough to question one’s future in the industry. We have evolved from 2 men and a dog in an old pig shed brewing and selling beer out of a knackered old van to what we are today. Granted we still have a knackered old van, however there are now 3 and a half men and distant fond memories of Perdi the dog.
We have evolved from just brewing award winning beers to opening a tap room and putting on music festivals and events at the brewery in the summer months. This increase in income is essential to carry us through the winter months where brewing beer for trade generally makes a loss.
To try and alleviate these massive peaks and troughs we have decided we would like to try and even this out with a monthly subscription for a modest fee.
We decided that £20 is a fair amount of money. The benefits should reflect this. As a GURT MEMBER you are entitled to join us at the brewery once a month for an evening of bottomless beer drinking. All of our beers available at the time are included in this session. We start at 6:30 and finish at 10pm on the first Tuesday of the month. We will have a suggestion box in the barn as we appreciate all feed back from our members. A registration will be taken on every members evening and if we don’t see your name regularly on the registration we will be sending you beer and goodies through the post.
What we hope is that you genuinely feel part of the story. A gentle phone call before the imminent arrival from a Gurt Member will always warrant the rolling out of the red carpet. Another major advantage is the availability of tickets to our sold out events prior to public release. Chesney Hawkes sold out in 36 hours last year!
